The hospitality, warmth and fellowship that people experience during coffee hour are a good example of one element of the caring community.

The church gathers, celebrates, catches up, chats, and shares stories about their experiences during the week, hopes and dreams for the future, heartache and joy. Providing a place for this caring exchange is one small ministry for the entire church. The Coffee Hour Ministry provides a place for the caring and fellowship to take root, and the host(s) facilitate that space for a day.

Coffee (& Tea) and Conversation

The members of SUPC sign up to host any given Sunday. The host prepares the coffee, readies the kettle for tea. Decaf coffee is available upon request. When the weather is warm, Iced Tea or Lemonade may be made available as well for this time of refreshment.

Anyone may provide a small goodie for all the people to enjoy with their beverage.

Cleaning up after the service is the responsibility of the community; the host may direct volunteers or choose to serve and clean up themselves as they feel called.

Approximately once a month, the Deacons will facilitate a pot-luck style gathering. For the fall 2022, the dates are:

October 16: Coffee and Conversation

October 30: Halloween Potluck

November 28: Soup and Bread

This is the Sunday after Thanksgiving, when we decorate the Sanctuary for Advent. This year it is also the First Sunday in Advent.

Celebrate the coming of the Christ Child with a cookie reception after worship on the 3rd Sunday of Advent.
